Claude Connector overview

The Claude Connector lets Claude Desktop or another MCP-compatible AI tool answer questions using approved Redliner project context instead of making you copy/paste files into chat.

MCP in plain English

MCP is a local bridge between an AI assistant and approved tools or data. Instead of Claude guessing from a pasted prompt, the connector gives Claude structured, permissioned access to the Redliner information your workspace exposes.

Read-only by design

The connector should be used for questions, analysis, summaries, and reporting. It should not silently write project data, change drawings, or create commitments unless a future workflow explicitly supports that and your admin enables it.

Good use cases

  • Summarize open drawing issues before a meeting.
  • Ask which sheets have unresolved markups or RFIs.
  • Review takeoff quantities by category or area.
  • Prepare a plain-English project status summary from Redliner context.
