Online word processors like Zoho® Writer, Adobe® Buzzword® and Google™ Docs provide great anytime, anywhere access to documents, but working teams are still hamstrung by some basic collaborative pitfalls that Redliner solves—most notably:

• “What has changed since I last viewed this?” With other online word processors, you must toggle back and forth between the current document window and windows that compare past versions to decipher what has changed in the text. Even then, it is not readily clear which member of the team made which edit.

  Redliner solves this problem with edit boxes placed within the current document window that are clearly labeled “David’s changes.” With a simple mouse click, you can see exactly what David changed in the text. Furthermore, each team member has the opportunity to weigh in on those changes by accepting or rejecting them, so you get a true collaborative response.

  Redliner also takes team members directly to what has changed within a document. No more time is wasted re-reading an entire document to ensure that you’ve seen every new edit. You can rest assured that you haven’t missed anything.

• “No one responded to my comment” or “Did they read my comment?” With other online word processors, anyone can post comments, but there is no mechanism for follow-up. Redliner’s workflow features require collaborators to either acknowledge or respond to a comment, so nothing is left in limbo.

• “I want to direct a comment to an individual team member without everyone else viewing it.” Often during collaboration, there are comments or questions that are not appropriate for the entire team, but only certain members. Redliner is the only service that allows you to post a private comment to select members of your collaborative team.
